Artist Solidarity:  a BACG group show
Opening Friday, September 27 7 – 10PM
Brooklyn Fire Proof
119 Ingraham St 11237

When artist and arts blogger Christopher Stout formed the Bushwick Art Crit Group * (BACG) earlier this year, he was filling a need he knew was present in Bushwick: a reoccurring event that fostered positive and intelligent discussion about some of the amazing work that is happening all over this area of Brooklyn. Christopher is never one to do anything half-way and has consistently gathered a series of presenters that embody the panorama of artistic media (from painting, to performance to fashion) and range in career levels from the green and emerging to seasoned veteran. BACG has opened new dialogues and created opportunities for young and talented artists to meet with one another and be introduced to some of Bushwick’s artistic heavies and gallerists.

It has been great so far and I look forward to the BACG’s years a head, but the time has come to see what happens when a group show’s curation is predicated on the individual artist’s ability to appreciate one another. I am excited to be included in the BACG’s first group show: Artist Solidarity.

One week from today will be the opening reception for what I presume can only be an incredibly eclectic display of artworks that expresses many of the highlights of the “Bushwick Art Scene” –as the kids are calling it these days.

You can follow the continuing exploits of the BACG on their Tumblr.
