Travel Log: Photographs

Travel Log is an ongoing series of photographs tangents off of my typical charcoal drawings and pastes them into a real space. All of the illusions are in-camera (there is no digital alteration) using mostly household materials. To achieve the proper visual effect the pieces are often propped by various hidden supports and riggings, while a some are temporarily built into the space they occupy.

These images are the product of my natural tendency to walk around half lost in thought. While wandering around between studio sessions I am usually enveloped in one artistic problem or another and this half-awareness of my surroundings lends itself to free association with locations and objects. I then later return to the same location to capture an image that recreates the sense of disorientation that I originally experienced.
